Where to take wedding portraits in Albany
My favourite portrait spots around Albany NY — Washington Park, the Hudson riverfront, and where the light goes in October.
Couples often ask where we should go for portraits on the wedding day. After years of shooting weddings in Albany and across the Capital Region, I keep coming back to three places.
Washington Park in May, when the tulips are out and the light hangs in the trees along the lake. Twenty unhurried minutes there is worth more than an hour anywhere staged.
The Hudson riverfront at golden hour — the Corning Preserve and the Dunn Memorial Bridge give you open sky and a skyline in the same frame, five minutes from downtown Albany venues.
And in October, anywhere with maples. The fall colour in the Hudson Valley does most of the work; my job is just to keep you both laughing through it.
